Mike Magnani, Secretary-Treasurer and Helen Green, President, present Shannon Utter with a scholarship check. Her father, Bruce Utter, Hertz mechanic, looks on. "Writing the essay has been a great opportunity for me to learn more about unions, especially the Teamsters union. I feel I know more about the Union's work and plan to be a union member when I start my career," said Shannon Utter Bruce Utter stated; "As a father of four children and as a Teamster for 24 years [Teamsters Local 995] you get to know what hard work is and that it will pay dividends down the road. Shannon is my third daugher. The first 2 took advantage of Nevada's Millennium Scholarship. When Shannon said she still wanted to go to college out of state I told her that she would need scholarship money. As it turns out, that would require a little work on her part. I can't think of a better way to get her ready for the challenges that will face her in the future than to show her the dividends of work. Her dad has learned it and now she is going to learn it and isn't that what Teamsters is about. Assist the worker."
